Training for doctors and nurses in doing literature searches for evidence based healthcare

Across Africa research activities are on the increase, with a growing volume of publications on a wide diversity of problems that face mankind common in the region including health, poverty etc. However, use of these research findings to improve our communities and direct policy remains limited.

The Collaboration for Evidence Based Healthcare in Africa (CEBHA) aims at facilitating the use of research towards policy and improved problem solving in Africa. Kilimanjaro Clinical Research Institute and KCMU College, in collaboration with 8 African institutions and the Royal Tropical Institute of Amsterdam, Netherlands are organizing a 4 day training workshop for doctors and nurses in doing literature searches for evidence based healthcare

The objective of this course has been to use the librarians who were trained in Addis in October last yearto train doctors and nurses in doing literature searches for evidence based healthcare, and to give a thorough introduction about EBM in general to the same audience. between 8th and 11 July 2013 at KCRI/KCMC, in Moshi under the Consortium for Evidence Based Health Care in Africa (CEBHA).
