Wellcome Trust will issue a call for a new round of research capacity development programmes at the end of July or early August 2014 and the Malaria Capacity Development Consortium (MCDC) will be invited to apply. The details of this call are not known but the Trust has indicated that the new initiatives must be African led, that they must be innovative and that the African Academy of Sciences will play an important role in the management of the new programmeswhich will be coordinated by Professor Kevin Marsh.
